Sandy was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She attended Martin Luther College and graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science. That summer, she married Mark Dobberstein and together received their first call to Pomona, California. Sandy was the remedial teacher there from 1983 until 1985. In 1987, Sandy and her family moved to Oakdale, MN where she worked as a bank teller for 2 years. In 1989, Sandy started teaching at Christ Lutheran School. During her first two years, she has taught a variety of grades from 2nd to 4th, beginning in her third year up to the present she has been teaching 2nd grade. Her favorite summer activity is to ride her Harley Davidson motorcycle and see the country side with Mr.D.
